Teema:                                      FW: Inquiry Regarding Registration and Financial Support for a Georgian Organization in Estonia

Dear Ms. Salome Gorgiashvili,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the establishment and potential funding of a Georgian organization in Estonia. Please find below the relevant information:

  1. The registration of diaspora organizations in Estonia is governed by the Non-Profit Associations Act, which you can access here: https://www.riigiteataja.ee/en/eli/ee/501022023003/consolide/current. Organizations must register as non-profit associations (MTÜ) via the Estonian Business Register. This requires submitting founding documents, including statutes and a list of founding members. More information is available at www.rik.ee.

  1. The Integration Foundation provides financial support to cultural organizations representing ethnic minorities. Currently, 17 umbrella organizations, including Gruusia Kultuuriseltside Maja Eestis, receive funding to support over 260 cultural societies in Estonia.

Each year, between 20 and 30 cultural associations receive grants for projects supporting cultural and linguistic heritage. As one Georgian umbrella organization already benefits from this funding, we encourage new initiatives to consider project-based support  as an initial step.

Additionally, Tallinn Municipality also provides financial support for cultural projects of ethnic minorities. More details on eligibility and application procedures are available here: https://www.tallinn.ee/et/kultuur/toetus-rahvusvahemuste-kultuuriprojektidele.

  1. The Ministry of Culture is responsible for supporting national minority cultural organizations. The Integration Foundation administers these programs and can provide additional guidance. More details are available at www.integratsioon.ee.

Should you require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Artjom Tepljuk

Subject: Inquiry Regarding Registration and Financial Support for a Georgian Organization in Estonia

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is Salome, Vice-Consul from Georgian Embassy to the Republic of Estonia. I am writing to inquire about the possibility of establishing a Georgian organization in Estonia or funding already established organization, particularly one focused on sports and cultural activities. Their aim is to create a platform that promotes Georgian culture, facilitates sports-related initiatives, and fosters connections between the Georgian diaspora and the local community in Estonia.

We would like to seek guidance on the following matters:

  1. Registration Process: What are the requirements and procedures for registering as a diaspora organization in Estonia? Are there any specific legal frameworks or conditions that they should be aware of?
  2. Financial Support: Are there any funding opportunities, grants, or financial assistance programs available for diaspora organizations, especially those focused on cultural and sports initiatives?
  3. Competent Authorities: If the Ministry of Culture is not the primary institution handling such matters, could you kindly direct us to the relevant governmental or non-governmental organizations that may assist us?

We appreciate any information, guidelines, or resources that you could provide

Thank you for your time and consideration. we are looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Vice-Consul
